THROUGH DANCE

We believe dance is a medicine for healing and expression.

United We Dance offers classes, events, and performances in Albuquerque and New Mexico for people of all ages and levels, in a supportive space with a welcoming vibe!

Salsa, bachata, zouk, kizomba, and more!

Have you always wanted to learn partner dancing?

What are you waiting for?

Partner dancing, whether salsa, bachata, kizomba, or zouk, is a great way to meet people, get exercise, support your health, or just take on a new hobby. While it may seem intimidating at first, we have taught countless people who start with little or no experience to feel confident on the dance floor. Our community is supportive for beginners and experienced dancers alike– we welcome you!

OUR IMPACT

We are ABQ’s most prominent Black-owned partner dance studio, celebrating the richness and diversity of Albuquerque’s Latin dance scene.

We offer scholarships for local youth to take free dance classes, and in the past have offered a special needs dance camp.

We aim to expand our engagement with Albuquerque Public Schools and local non-profits to bring the joy of partner dance and movement to groups who may not otherwise be able to access it. Interested in partnering with us? Get in touch!

MEET THE TEACHER

Marvin Nathan started dancing hip hop and stepping as a child in South Side, Chicago, where he was born and raised. He fell in love with Latin dancing 10 years ago and later began teaching at the encouragement of his peers who recognized his passion. In 2022, Marvin opened United We Dance Studio, where he teaches zouk, salsa, kizomba, and Chicago-style line dancing.

Marvin is trained by Brazilian zouk master Jaime Aroxa. He also trained with Afro and Latin dance choreographer Lee Rios for five years at Semeneya Dance Studio in San Antonio, Texas. He later traveled and performed around Texas with Semeneya, semi-professional salsa team.

In 2023, Marvin trained in Santa Fe, N.M. with award-winning, international dance competitor Kiri Chapman. Marvin is mentored by Phoenix-based Latin dancer Ed Amaya.

Marvin brings acclaimed guest dancers to United We Dance Studio to teach his students special workshops in various dance styles. He also organizes trips to Brazil with his students to study zouk and learn about the culture where the dance style originated. In addition, Marvin organizes dance events and classes around the Albuquerque community.

Marvin’s approach to dance pedagogy is to empower his students with confidence in a safe and comfortable environment. He believes that dance is a form of therapy that enriches communication and builds community.

“On the dance floor, we are all equal,” he said.
